1944 – 2000

Story from the Quilt:
Gary Keith Sanders passed away on June 26, 2000. He was a loving husband, a father of three and grandfather of six. He lived in Andalusia, Alabama off of Gantt Lake. He worked as a custodian at Straughn Elementary School. The patch for the quilt is from his work uniform. He loved his job and was loved by all. He was dedicated and felt that every child needed a good education. He was proud to be a part of Straughn School. It’s an honor to participate in this project knowing someone else has a chance for life once ours is over.
