Sirois, Donald Lester

April 18, 1932 – June 22, 2018

Story from the Quilt:

Donald Sirois (Sir-roy) was born in Kankakee, Illinois. He served in the United States Navy. Using his GI Bill money he attended Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA. He graduated in 1959 with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering.

With his degree he began his career with the United States Forest Service. This began his love of research. He worked in California, Washington D.C. and finally Auburn, Alabama. Once settled in Auburn he also served with passion with AARM – Alabama Rural Ministry. His faith lead him to serve the less fortunate. Amazing Grace was his favorite Hymn. The background fabric shows his love for the outdoors. We tent camped, camped in a trailer and drove across the country several times – always camping along the way.
